As the nation approaches its 250th birthday, this program celebrates the landscapes and stories that have shaped American identity, from the vast sea to the towering peak of Mount Rainier. Carl Nielsen’s Helios Overture heralds the sunrise, while Britten’s Four Sea Interludes paints an ethereal, glassy portrait of the ocean’s ever-changing moods. Stephen Lias’s It Stands Alone unveils the majesty of Mount Rainier in a breathtaking multimedia experience, and Dvořák’s American Suite brims with folk-inspired warmth and charm.
